The Lombard Romanesque basilica of Sant’Ambrogio is fronted by a rectangular arcaded and vaulted atrium (c.1018-1050), the eastern gallery of which forms a narthex to the church. The door dates from the eighth to the tenth century. Elevation of main west door with vaulting of narthex (top); plan (bottom).
