This Renaissance marble sarcophagus (1504) of the bishop, Saint Apollonius, forms part of the third altar on the south aisle of the seventeenth century Duomo Nuovo (New Cathedral). Attributed to local sculptor Maffeo Olivieri (c.1484- c.1543), it was transferred in 1674 from the crypt of the adjacent Duomo Vecchio (Old Cathedral).
